A gentle stabilisation plan for self-employed women who need to protect their income without burning out
February often brings a lot of talk about self-love.
Rest more. Say no. Step back. Put yourself first.
And while all of that sounds lovely… it can also feel completely unrealistic when you run a business and still need income coming in.
Because for many of us, self-love doesn’t look like switching everything off.
It looks like asking:
“How do I keep going without hurting myself further?”
I’ve been there myself. When your mental health feels heavy, even simple business tasks can feel overwhelming. And when expenses still need to be covered, the pressure doesn’t pause just because you’re struggling.
So instead of asking you to do less and feel guilty about it, I want to offer a different approach.
Not hustle.
Not shutdown.
But stabilisation.
Self-Love Isn’t Pushing, It’s Stabilising
Self-love in business isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about choosing the kindest possible way to keep things steady while you rebuild capacity.
That’s why I use a Business Stabilisation Plan for the harder weeks; a way to protect both your income and your wellbeing.
A Self-Love Stabilisation Plan (3 Weekly Priorities)
1. Client Delivery & Essentials
Self-love here looks like responsibility without over-extension.
Show up for existing clients.
Send invoices.
Chase payments if needed.
Keep communication short and simple.
You’re honouring your commitments, without adding more to your plate.
2. One Income-Generating Action
Not ten.
Not everything.
Just one thing that helps money keep flowing:
- A message to a past client
- A simple post or email with an offer
- A short paid session or review
- Asking for a referral
Self-love is recognising that one clear action is enough for now.
3. Energy & Boundaries
This is where self-love becomes practical, not performative.
Choose 1–2 non-negotiables that support you:
A walk.
An earlier night.
Logging off at a set time.
You’re not being lazy.
You’re preserving the energy that keeps your business, and you, going.
A Gentle Weekly Rhythm
- Monday: 30 minutes to look at money in/out and choose your one income action
- Midweek: Deliver client work and send invoices
- Friday: Tidy up, follow up, and acknowledge what you did manage
No overplanning.
No perfection.
Just steadiness.
The Most Important Reminder
Self-love isn’t stepping away from your business if you can’t afford to.
It’s refusing to run it in a way that harms you.
You don’t need to grow right now.
You don’t need a reinvention.
You need enough structure to stop everything feeling chaotic.
Stabilising your business is an act of self-respect.
And when you’re ready, support exists to help you simplify, streamline, and create more space, without starting from scratch or pushing through burnout.
